Hyundai Oilbank has always worked for the stable supply of petroleum goods and the development of Korean Industry since its establishment in 1964.
Daesan factory in Chungnam has total of 390 thousand barrels of petroleum refinement capabilities per day including the 110 thousand barrels from 1st factory and 280 thousand from 2nd factory. In 1988, it was the first to introduce the intermediate oil decomposition facility in Korea and in 2011, it established the best efficiency in domestic oil Refiner Company by building the second enhancement equipment.
In 2014, HYUNDAI and SHELL Base Oil, the joint venture established collaboratively by Hyundai Oilbank and a global energy firm SHELL, completed the construction of a base oil plant. Constructed on 46,000m2 wide site in Daesan refinery, this plant produces high-quality base oil products amounting to 650,000 tons annually by using 20,000 barrels of well-refined raw materials a day. Significant amount of these products are exported, contributing to the diversification of the company’s profit structure, while some of these products are used as raw materials of HYUNDAI XTeer, the premium lubricant brand of Hyundai Oilbank
In 2015, Hyundai Oilbank has established Lubricant Research Center in Yong-in City, Gyeonggi Province for agile reaction to the lubricant market.
It is currently proceeding cooperative project with Central Technical Research center and Hyundai Heavy Industries central technology center and is a control tower of developing high quality lubricant.
Hyundai Oilbank is releasing adequate lubricant product that fit all vehicles including all Asian, European, and North American made vehicles, shipbuilding, and construction machinery through its high-quality lube base oil and technology. It plans to change the existing market with close cooperation with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Motor Company.

For the past half century, Hyundai Oilbank has led the energy industry of Korea and now has become a global comprehensive energy enterprise with its expanding presence in the petrochemical and lubricant sectors.
Hyundai Oilbank is promoting lubricants as a new growth engine. In partnership with SHELL, Hyundai Oilbank built the base oil plant in 2014 with a production capacity of 650 thousand tons per year. Hyundai Oilbank has successfully entered domestic and overseas market by producing several industrial lubricants as well as the automotive lubricant ‘HYUNDAI XTeer’.
